Over the last few months, there’s plenty of speculation as to what Paris Saint-Germain will do with their captain, Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian’s contract expires after the 2019-20 season concludes and reports are surfacing that talks are ongoing. Still, there’s no formal agreement between both sides as money is the main hurdle in negotiations and will continue to be until the coronavirus pandemic is over.
Also, despite contract talks continuing, it seems that Silva’s wife will want to remain in Paris for the foreseeable future, and she isn’t the only person that hopes the 35-year-old extends their contract.
Former PSG goalkeeper, Jérôme Alonzo, spoke with L’Équipe du Soir (via ParisFans) and gave his opinion on what his former club should do with O Monstro.
“Sportively, I found him good, Thiago Silva. Except for the game at Amiens. I find him interesting to keep in the rotation of the axials. And then it can allow Thomas Tuchel to put Marquinhos back in midfield,” Alonzo said. “We know he loves it. Besides, it would be almost like a penalty not to keep him. It would be unfair to make him wear the hat for chess. Others were there, and we talk less about it.”
It’s an interesting situation to monitor as the summer months begin, and PSG will have to decide whether or not they want to bring their captain back.
