If there’s one transfer target that Paris Saint-Germain supporters can unilaterally get behind, it’s Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić.
Fueling the transfer speculation is the fact that Lazio’s sporting director, Igli Tare, said he would leave it up to the player to decide his future if the club received their asking price.
“The player’s desire is crucial. Generally speaking, if a player thinks that their time is up and wants to go somewhere else, it shouldn’t be a problem,” Tare told Sky Sport Italia (via Daily Mail). “Eras come to an end. The fact he stayed in Rome for five years is because he has strong links with the city and club.”
“When there was some temptation, a bit on our part, a bit on his, we never went all the way. However, things must be assessed at the end of the season.”
To satisfy Lazio’s demands, it would cost PSG upwards of €100 million according to Calciomercato.com (via Le10Sport). The report also indicates that Juventus FC was in the running for Milinković-Savić but at that price, they’re prepared to move on to other transfer targets.
PSG could make a run at Milinković-Savić and keep him from making the move to the Premier League, however, given the financial implications of the coronavirus, it’s difficult to imagine the Ligue 1 champions spending that amount on a single player. In fact, I don’t think we’ll see any €100 million-plus transfers during the upcoming transfer window.
